My name is Alexander Dutson and my work involves bringing philosophical conversations to schools in Japan and the UK. I completed facilitation training with The Philosophy Foundation in London, and am interested in how dialogue, and questioning, can be used to promote students' enjoyment of learning. I believe philosophy can help students make sense of new ideas, and that it fosters the kind of critical, collaborative and imaginative mindset needed to grapple with complex challenges in the twenty-first century. I have published a book for Japanese teachers and students explaining some of these ideas with the title ‘Thinking Experiments: Philosophy for Japanese High Schools'.
